Asili:

Masks Asili
The Journal of
Multicultural Heartspeak

ASILI is by definition the germinal principle of the being of culture. It is the collective spirit of a group of human beings who are either related by blood or who become related through shared historical experience. In this instance, that experience is poetic and expository. This webpage as a presence in cyberspace contains the spiritseed of the writers whose works appear herein. It is a force whose outward thrusting compels them into ever widening relationships with rhythm and rhyme, sound and soul, poetry and personhood. It issues forth and draws unto itself the verity and vagary of verse, the venerability and venality of opinion, the verve and vitriol of the human story -- the ordinarily eloquent language of heartspeak. This journal makes a public record of the transactions of poet/writer and Muse; the accountings of physical and psychic events. It is a living record of experiences, ideas and reflections. Let all who would, bring their gifts. No offering will be refused, neither jot nor letter, poem or exposition. Yet let it be known that those who would criticize must first subject themselves to criticism
