What is Asili?
ASILI: The Journal of Multicultural Heartspeak will accept for publication poetry and creative commentary that locates itself anywhere on the continuum of human experience. While we welcome all creative efforts, we are particularly interested in work that reflects issues of culture, cultural diversity, cultural relativity, ethnicity and ethnocentrism, gender, sexism and heterosexism, language and linguicism, ability, disability and ableism, social class and classism, religion and religious chauvinism, empowerment and oppression. Writers, poets, essayists and story tellers, students and faculty, novice or accomplished, are encouraged to submit their work. All writers retain their copyrights.

Works should be submitted either via e-mail in a Microsoft Word document or in ascii with html codes included to indicate such conventions as italics etc. Poems should be no more that 10 pages per poem. Essays, articles and short fiction should be 6000 words or less. Each writer should submit a short biography of no more than 250 words, a recent picture (jpg, GIF or Tiff formats) and an e-mail and/or mailing address. The views expressed herein are those of the writers, poets, essayists and story tellers, not the editors. Writer will retain all copyrights and a copyright symbol will appear at the end of the writer's page. Send all submissions to jmcnair@mdc.edu
